A Time for Peace is the first plate which was painted by Donald Zolan for the March of Dimes series, "Our Children, Our Future" In "A Time for Peace," we see a magnificent example of this Zolan trademark, a luminous backlight transforming the sunlight streaming through the little girl's hair into a glowing halo, symbolic of innocence and peace. This effect results from an extremely difficult and time-consuming technique first used by the old masters of the Italian Renaissance.
